This exciting project comes from veteran winemaker William Hill. Although it’s packed with rich black-currant and cassis-liqueur flavors that sink down in the midpalate and offer fruity satisfaction, the finish is firm and classic. The vineyard is on Atlas Peak, and the wine shows those mountain tannins but also fine minerality. Drink 2017–2025. Cellar Selection. —S.H.
2009 Prime Solum Cabernet Sauvignon is the inaugural vintage of Bill Hill's single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from his Home Ranch, BrokenrockVineyard.
Dense indigo. Gobs of red and black fruit with hints of cedar and pipe tobacco wafting about. Immense flavors greet the palate, carried through on a long wave of chewy phenolic richness. Textbook power and finesses that can only be found in Napa Cab. Prime Solum matches beautifully with most hearty fare and pairs particularly well with beef.
NEW RELEASE: 2009 Tetra’s dense, black-cherry hue plays to the layers of rich, ripe fruit in this gutsy wine giving you a sense of the luscious experience to come... Complex aromas and flavors follow suit offering an explosive palate of blackberry and cherry compote balanced by generous measures of fresh leather, chocolate, and cedar. The massive density slowly melts in your mouth and gives way to a lengthy, savory finish at least 30-40 seconds long....
