Tourmaline Vineyard (in Coombsville)

Napa Valley

Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot

Coombsville VineyardTourmaline lies in the heart of the Napa Valley’s emerging Tulocay region. Recognized for its unique terroir for over 40 years, Tulocay is now being considered for official AVA status. Located on gently-sloping terrain, our Coombsville vineyard estate provides a micro-climate perfectly suited to growing muscular Bordeaux-varietal wines exhibiting the distinctive Tulocay terroir.

The vineyard resides in southeastern Napa – just north of Skyline Park on 92 gently-sloping acres. Heavily influenced by its proximity to the San Pablo Bay, the maritime climate is further exacerbated by the range of mountains residing to the south, east and north of Coombsville. These mountains act as a natural catch basin, trapping the fog and cool maritime breezes that typically funnel into the southern end of the Napa Valley from the San Pablo Bay on summer and fall afternoons. During harvest Tourmaline is able to take advantage of its cooler location farther south in the Napa Valley, allowing the Bordeaux varietals planted to ripen slowly, achieving full phenolic ripeness before being harvested.
